Breaking Barriers: Tiffany’s Journey as a Leader in HVAC at Samm’s HVAC

Tiffany is a Leader

In a world where women are often underrepresented in skilled trades, Tiffany stands out as a beacon of perseverance and strength. As a leader at Samm’s HVAC, she has navigated the challenges of a traditionally male-dominated field and emerged not only as a highly skilled professional but also as an inspiration for other women pursuing similar paths.

Facing Challenges Head-On

Tiffany’s journey into HVAC was not without its hurdles. Entering a predominantly male trade, she encountered gender stereotypes and biases that sought to undermine her professionalism. “I was often told I couldn’t go into the attic because I am a girl,” she recalls, highlighting the absurdity of such outdated beliefs. Moreover, Tiffany faced skepticism from customers who questioned her expertise, often asking when the “real” crew was going to arrive. “It’s disheartening when people, regardless of their gender, fail to respect you as a professional,” she shares, recalling instances where comments about her appearance overshadowed her skills. But Tiffany is no stranger to overcoming obstacles. She emphasizes the importance of determination and support: “You can do whatever you want to do if you put your mind to it. Find the right people to help you get to where you want to go.” This advice serves as a guiding light for other women aiming to break into HVAC or any skilled trade.

Building Supportive Networks

When asked how the industry can better support women in leadership roles, Tiffany acknowledges the progress that has been made but sees room for improvement. “There are women-geared events, mentors, groups, newsletters, and even conferences,” she notes. Tiffany is also a member of Women in HVAC an organization empowering women in the trade. However, she believes that there’s still work to be done in fostering an environment where women feel welcomed and empowered to take on leadership positions.

A Family Legacy

Tiffany’s connection to Samm’s HVAC runs deep; it’s not just a job for her—it’s a family legacy. “My parents started this company in 2005 out of our childhood home, and I have been surrounded by HVAC my entire life,” she explains. From tagging along on service calls during her childhood to assisting her mother with administrative tasks as a kid, Tiffany’s journey has been intertwined with the evolution of the company. Her diverse experiences, from working as a research scientist to an organic farmhand, have shaped her approach to leadership. She can do anything. “My motivation for working at Samm’s is to keep the family element of the business alive,” she shares. For Tiffany, this means more than just maintaining a legacy; it’s about understanding the people behind the work. “I want to know the employees, their families, and what drives them beyond what we do to pay our bills.”

Inspiration for the Next Generation

Tiffany is not just a leader at Samm’s HVAC; she is a role model for future generations of women in the trade. Her journey is a testament to the power of resilience, community, and passion. As she continues to break down barriers and challenge stereotypes, Tiffany is paving the way for others to follow in her footsteps. In a world where women are increasingly taking their rightful place in skilled trades, Tiffany’s story serves as a reminder that with determination, support, and a commitment to excellence, anything is possible. Whether you’re a woman considering a career in HVAC or a leader looking to inspire others, Tiffany’s journey is proof that the sky is the limit. As the industry evolves, it’s stories like Tiffany’s that will help shape a brighter, more inclusive future for everyone in the HVAC field.
